About ShipName

ShipName is a free name-blending tool: type two names, get the portmanteau — for couples planning a wedding hashtag, parents sketching a baby name, fandoms naming a pairing, or anyone who has ever wondered what Brad + Angelina teaches us about their own two names.

The approach is deliberately mechanical, and documented as such on how ship names work: every candidate is cut from the two names you type, ranked by a readability score, and generated entirely in your browser. There is no name database behind it, no account system, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

ShipName is part of a small family of free, browser-only tools built on the same principle — the useful part should happen on your device, instantly, without a sign-up wall. You'll find the siblings in the footer below.

What's planned

ShipName Pro ($9/mo, in the works — no payment is taken today) will add saved name lists across devices, hashtag packs with availability spot-checks, and duo username suggestions. The core generator stays free.
